Ask Claude about your Sakai courses.
Sakai-MCP connects claude.ai and the Claude phone app to your own sakai.ug.edu.gh account. Ask what's due, download assignment files, read lecturer feedback and revise from your slides. Nothing to install, and it only reads.

What you can ask
All 16 tools-
Deadlines
Every assignment, quiz and exam date across your courses, soonest first, with what you have and haven't submitted.
“What's due in the next two weeks?”
-
Assignment briefs
Full instructions, dates, marks, how to submit, and the files attached to the brief, read and explained.
“Explain the DCIT 418 project brief.”
-
Grades and feedback
Released assignment grades, your lecturer's comments and any files they returned with your work.
“What feedback did I get on Assignment 2?”
-
Announcements and calendar
Recent announcements from all your courses or one, and your classes, exams and deadlines for the week ahead.
“Any announcements from MATH 359?”
-
Lecture files
PDFs, PowerPoints and Word documents from Resources, read and summarised, with direct download links that don't need a Sakai login.
“Summarise Lecture 3, then show me slide 14.”
-
What's new
New announcements, released grades, fresh files and new deadlines since you last asked. No need to check each course.
“Anything new on Sakai since yesterday?”
Study prompts
Six ready-made prompts under the + button in Claude Desktop. Each one loads the assignment or course from Sakai first.
They help you understand and produce your own work. UG checks submissions with Turnitin, and the prompts point out when a brief limits or bans AI.
- 01 Break down an assignment What's really being asked, every deliverable, the marking criteria and the deadline.
- 02 Plan an assignment Steps with mini-deadlines, working back from the due date and around your other work.
- 03 Tutor me Teaches the concepts from your course's own slides and checks your understanding as it goes.
- 04 Review my draft Specific feedback on your draft against the brief, including what Turnitin might flag.
- 05 Help me draft it myself Guides you part by part while you write, so you can explain every line.
- 06 Revise for an exam A plan up to the exam date, past papers from Resources, and a quiz that tracks weak topics.
Read-only by design
Sakai-MCP can only call a fixed list of read-only Sakai addresses. Anything else is refused before a request is made, so it can't submit, post, delete or change anything on your account.
How your login and data are handled- Your password is stored encrypted and only used to log in to sakai.ug.edu.gh.
- A rejected password is never retried, so your account can't be locked.
- Text from announcements and files is treated as information, never as instructions.
- Each student only ever sees their own courses. No tracking, no ads.
